Technical Maintenance 101: Why and How We Perform Updates

When and why do we need technical maintenance: understanding software releases, how applications are updated, and why you should update the Bitbanker app when notified

What Technical Maintenance Is

It might seem that websites or applications, once launched, operate autonomously, so why conduct technical maintenance and suspend their activity?

There’s always room for improvement, which is why,  from time to time, many companies, including Bitbanker, need to update their resources, fix bugs, upgrade existing tools, or add new ones. These processes are called software releases. For faster and higher quality work, access to the website and application is temporarily restricted for users. When such a release is in progress, we notify our clients that we’re conducting technical maintenance.

The development team writes new code or refines existing code. Then they test it in a test environment. Considering we are dealing with finances at Bitbanker, for us such testing may require more time. After successful testing, all changes and updates are deployed to the production environment (the actual application or website), which is called a software release.

To better understand how a release works, let’s break it down with a simple example: imagine an update is like a school essay. First, you write a draft, correcting mistakes and rewriting it in clearer language, which is similar to testing in a test environment. Then you transfer your work to a clean notebook and submit it to the teacher, just like rolling out updates to the production environment.

How Long Does Technical Maintenance Take

The Bitbanker team does everything possible to maintain the comfort of its clients, so technical maintenance usually lasts from one to several hours. Typically, they last no less than an hour.

Why Download the Updates

When an update is released, we always recommend installing it. Ignoring the latest version of the application can lead to errors or the absence of new useful features, which not only causes inconvenience but can also be dangerous when dealing with finance.

How Will I Get Notified

Notifications are sent to your email. To avoid missing important information, we recommend subscribing to email notifications, which can be done in your profile.

We also always notify our clients in advance about technical work on our official Telegram channel and chat.
